From the company’s family-owned and run vineyard high up the Awatere Valley. Just a light coppery shade of pink in the glass, with a soft mousse of bubbles. The perfume hints at red summer berries, orange peel, nougat, fennel and fresh baguette. Initially savoury to taste, with that juiciness of fruit coming through underneath. Mouth-watering yet serious, dry and textural – walks a fine balance and has good complexity. A saline minerality pops its head up, before a dry, nutty finish of good length rounds things off. 94pts
