A wine from Waiheke Island – a blend of mostly Cabernet Franc, with smaller amounts of Petit Verdot and Malbec. An opaque deep crimson colour in the glass. A bouquet of blackberry, cherry, liquorice, blueberry, mint, cedar and a floral lift of violet rose petals. The palate has an elegant balance, the supple tannin, a touch of oak and integrated acidity supporting the juicy fruit. The Cab Franc brings an earthy ‘sous bois’ element that tames the glossy energy of the Petit Verdot. The Malbec rounding out the picture with an intense, robust depth. A nice note of dark, bitter chocolate underneath. The finish is plush and lingering. 93pts
