Taka K Pearson Estate Pinot Noir 2021

Taka K Pearson Estate Pinot Noir 2021

The new label from Takahiro Koyama, using fruit from the Pearson Vineyard he’s taken before (for the Koyama wines) from the Waipara Valley. The new label is adorned with an ouroboros, the ancient symbol of a dragon consuming its own tail, representing rebirth or renewal. If you’ve followed the story, you’ll know that Takahiro’s time making wine in NZ has had its challenges! The wine is a ruby-crimson in the glass, with energetic, enticing aromas of cranberry, cherry, cinnamon, woody herbs, plum, acacia and lilac. Great Pinot typicity, there’s a youthful bounce into the palate, where a surge of fruit meets the core of pliable tannin and integrated acidity. Textured and gently spiced, this drinks very well now, but has a long future if cellared properly. 94pts
