A Chardonnay from Waiheke Island that has changed style a bit over the years – from the big OTT monster of fifteen years ago, that was a quite a cult wine, to the much greener, tighter wine of recent vintages. Still a monster, but with a focus in colour away from gold to green. Quite a bright lemon-straw colour in the glass, and has a perfume that is filled with nectarine, hazelnut, lemon curd, greengage and grapefruit. Full bodied, rich and weighty on the palate. Fine, tight fruit flavours accentuated by the zippy acidity that has a good line through the palate to a dry, intense finish. 93pts
