A Marlborough wine; bright, clear lemon-yellow in the glass. Heady aroma of ripe sweet fruit, underlined by that struck-match funky note of ‘modern’ chardonnay. A shining acidity to this, with an integrated, smokey oak character that keeps the medium weighted palate in balance. A rounded texture and layers of ripe peach and grapefruit marmalade unfolding with a creamy yeastiness. Rich and quite youthful, but a pretty intense and complex drop of chardonnay that will no doubt improve with a couple of years age under it’s belt – all for under $25.
