A Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay – from one of the region’s premier vineyards and the local ‘Chardonnay expert’ producer (it’s all he makes). A vibrant lemon-green hue in the glass. A voluminous and airy perfume, filled with white peach, grapefruit, nougat, lemon curd, tarragon, quince, acacia and citrus blossom. Full and open, with an understated power and excellent balance. Acidity gives great line through the palate, driving that plush fruit into an equally plush texture – opulent and satisfying but never less than elegant and measured. Oak is also a quiet influence – toasty and spiced. Well structured and generous, the finish is also quite delightful – concentrated and lingering. 96pts
