A Hawke’s Bay wine, another beauty from the winning 2019 vintage. Crisp and bright – a green-lemon colour, with a shy but elegant nose. Pure and clean notes of white pear, lime, briney green olive and fennel. On the palate it comes alive, with intensity and focus. It blossoms into golden peach, apricot, mandarin zest and pear. Carried along on breezy acid, a layer of sweet baking spices and a richness of vanilla custard and caramel starts to broaden things out. Hazelnut, brioche and lemon curd lie in wait at the back of the palate, slung in with the creamy texture. The finish shows a seashell minerality, a grapefruit pithy drying, and goes for miles. 94pts.
