Savage White 2015

Savage White 2015

Made by Duncan Savage, using a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, plus smaller amounts of Clairette Blanc and Chenin Blanc from the Western Cape in South Africa. Delicately aromatic, with a chalky, mineral edge to the nose. Grapefruit, fennel, white peach, lime, nougat, red apple skin, ginger and dried pineapple. Medium to full bodied, with super concentration and tension into the palate. A saline, fresh acidity is a match to the juicy citrus and herbal notes – sorrel, green olive, capsicum and preserved lemons. Through that emphatic blast of an opening, there’s a more balanced, settled delicateness deeper into the palate; and the finish is crisp, long and harmonic. 95pts

  1. Like this guys wines. Textural and flavours of the site and surrounds. You’ve convinced me to open a bottle of his Cinsault tomorrow.

    1. Excellent. I was introduced to Duncan Savage by a friend, who gets his wines from a good importer here in Auckland – look at planetwine.co.nz. Never had a bottle from Mr Savage that I didn’t enjoy.
