A pale lemon-gold colour in the glass, with aromatics of peach, blanched almond, tangerine, nutmeg, pear, nougat and a floral jasmine element. Dry, well balanced and with a complex, layered structure that is a delight to discover. A zing of acidity leads the palate, that is initially taut and delicate, but broadens out – flavours of tropical fruit – green melon, mango, ginger and dried pineapple emerging as the wine opens up. Both mineral notes of wet stone, and a savouriness of preserved lemon, oatmeal and apple skin add to the interest, with the wine developing and changing course as the evening progressed. A pithy, drying and lengthy finish. 94pts
