Trinity Hill The Gimblett 2021

Trinity Hill The Gimblett 2021

Delighted to get to try this much-lauded wine from the Gimblett Gravels in Hawke’s Bay in it’s new livery, with a classy gloss-black on matt-black stony motif – looking as smart as it tastes. In a ‘favourable growing season’ the team at Trinity Hill have concentrated on the Cabernets, with just 4% Petit Verdot in the mix.

Inkily dark in the glass, and with that intasntly appealing bold perfume as the smoky, peaty notes of the Cabernet Franc mix with the meaty, minty graphite and cassis of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Young, intense and with a concentrated vitality that just floods the palate. Ripe, sinewy and well-structured, showing a brisk acidity and supple, spicy tannins that promise a long life of development on those broad bones ahead. A delicious, dry finish adds more interest on top of that bold opening and body. 94pts
