From a coastal site at Te Awanga in Hawke’s Bay. Pale lemon-green in the glass, and a steely freshness on the nose. A flinty reductivity, mandarin, apple caramel, baguette crust, lemon peel and citrus blossom aromas. Nice weight – generous and plush; with apricot, almond, lime, chestnut and white peach flavours. The acidity is bright but could offer a little more drive – although the balance through the palate is good, with a saline minerality and a rich oak influence. A scintillating texture that has again that crème brulee character and viscosity. A good finish with a pithy dryness, but a touch flat. 91pts
