A Blanc de Blanc sparkling wine, in an Extra Brut style. The latest version of this wine (2021 vintage) won the Trophy for Champion NZ Sparkling at NZIWS this year. A vibrant green-gold colour with a very fine mousse of bubbles. An engaging bouquet shows lots of yeasty autolysis as the top note, with layers of peach, lemon, grapefruit, oatmeal and apple in the middle. A touch of bright honeysuckle floral too. Very dry to taste, tight and fizzing with energy in the palate. Racing over your tongue, it does broaden slightly into the back of the palate, with hints of ginger and baguette coming through. A crisp, pithy finish. 92pts
