A bold Spanish red, aged for 16 months in American oak barriques. Deep inky black-claret in the glass, with deliciously old-world styling and aromas of cedar, tobacco and old leather on the nose, married to a dense dark cherry, plum and mulberry fruit note, and a little spice and dried roses on the top. Great density – powerful and muscular into the palate. Delivering fabulous tannin, brooding and sinewy, but supported by some lively acidity. Dry and savoury, with a charred, resinous quality, and then herbal, with sage and thyme; spiced with cloves and pepper… finishing with a liquorice, black olive element too.
