A bright copper-mahogany colour in the glass, with bold aromatics of apricot, sweet lemon, creme caramel, quince and jasmine. Concentrated and oily, with depth and power through the palate. Notes of tar, preserved lemon, resin, toasty oak, beeswax and honeycomb. Gloriously sweet and mouth-filling, yet quite tight and focussed. The texture is lush, creamy and sumptuous. I’d be happy to serve this not just as a dessert wine (which it is) but as an aperitif with charcuterie and paté. Finishes a mile-long, unctuous and caramelised. 94pts
