Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2008

Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2008

From one of the classic sub-regions for great Chardonnay, but a tricky hail and rain-affected vintage in 2008. A mid-golden straw colour in the glass, showing some bottle age. Nicely aromatic – ripe and golden on the nose as well, perfumed with peach, acacia, apricot, hazelnut, hay, comice pear and orange blossom. Plush and velvety, spreading flavour across the broad palate gracefully. Acidity is a little lacking – the fruit taking centre stage; but some complexity arriving in waves and layers as the wine gets some air. White pepper, quince, honey, lemon curd, grilled pineapple, with buttered, toasted brioche. Good weight and excellent length. Gets better and better from a good start, to a fabulous ending. 96pts
