A Bordeaux blend wine from the Bridge Pa sub-region of Hawke’s Bay, made by Paritua. A vibrant claret colour and with some delicacy on the nose. A bit of forest-floor ‘Franc funk’ – forest floor to the aromatics; Merlot then follows, with bright and juicy plum, raspberry, bramble and cassis. Bright acidity and a good weight and richness. Cocoa, liquorice, tobacco, vanilla and nutmeg notes in layers underneath the succulent fruit – all wrapped around some firm tannins with a bit of grip. Easy to like flavours – ready to drink now, no need for cellaring further. 91pts
