A red wine from Basilicata, Southern Italy. Dark claret ruby in the glass, with bold aromatics flowing onto the nose of cherry, vanilla, date, raspberry and date. Softer acidity and mellow tannins are apparent immediately, and the sweet, ripe fruit floods the palate. Cranberry and damson notes jostle with the savoury elements of mocha, olive and warm earth, but the overall harmony of these layers results in a gentle, smooth and textured whole. There is a gentle spice and some robustness to the finish. Loving this with a steak, or a tomato-sauced pasta. 92pts.
