Nautilus ‘Clay Hills’ Pinot Noir 2017

Nautilus Clay Hills 17

From the Southern Valleys sub-region of Marlborough – the vineyard is on a ridge separating the Brancott and Omaka Valleys. A dark carmine red colour in the glass, with deep and dense aromatics filled with spice, pepper, dark red fruit and a delicate floral rose petal note. Bold, with a swagger and personality but also precision and great structure. Oak is absolutely on point – framing a solid depth and core. Plum, cranberry, black cherry and bramble flavours tumble into the palate, with star anise, cinnamon and tarragon in support. Ripe, fine tannins. Glossy texture and leading to a harmonic, lengthy finish. 94pts.
