From North Canterbury, a sibling label to Pegasus Bay. A gorgeous pale watermelon flesh pink in the glass. Bright and open on the nose, brimming with strawberry, cherry, guava and orange blossom. A clean acid freshness introduces the palate where a balance of red berries, a herbal, fennel note and a brioche, yeastiness plays out. There’s also a little ‘good funk’ in here – perhaps a bit too much overtly Sauvignon Blanc character than I’d normally be looking for in my rosé, but here it works nicely as it adds personality. Texture is supple and slightly mineral. Great flow, and drying towards the finish. 91pts. Something a bit different.
