Single vineyard Chardonnay from the south-facing hillside Netherwood vineyard. A pale lemon-green in the glass, with lovely rich aromas of white nectarine, flinty mineral, chestnut, white cherry, pear, acacia and orange blossom. A blooming acidity, with drive, power and length through the palate. More stonefruit, fig, melon and then a layer of dry, grapefruit pith and light tannin gives real interest to the middle of the wine. Complex, layered, playful and persistant. The interplay of ripe, tart, fresh, warming, spice and drying is appealing and balances on the edge of harmony and chaos. Nougat and vanilla return in the opulent, waxy texture, then a marathon, satisfying finish. 95pts.
