A Marlborough wine, Loveblock – a personal brand, and return, from winemaker Kim Crawford. Palest green-yellow in the glass, with delicious aromas of wild fennel, golden apple, cardamom and pear. Crisply dry, light to medium bodied, with a lively line of acidity. Fresh ginger, lychee, greengage, basil, and rockmelon flavours cut a swathe across the generous palate.
Underlined emphatically with a stony minerality that becomes a key characteristic at the back. Elegant, with a polish and refinement fairly uncommon in the mass-produced version of this classic aromatic variety. Carries to a persistant, chalky finish. 93pts.
