Gleaming bright and golden in the glass, with a flamboyant nose of pineapple, cashew, passionfruit, straw, baked apple strudel and jasmine. A few years (probably a few too many) in bottle has fattened the wine out and it is unctuous and waxy, with the acidity still citric and busy but a wee bit faded.
A flinty minerality immediately on the front of the palate, followed up with a flush of grapefruit, blood orange, nectarine and lemon meringue flavours. Oak isn’t noticeable now, but there’s a cushiony texture that goes with the butterscotch and cream towards the finish. Peaks early and ends a bit short. 89pts.
