From the biodyanamic Raupo Creek vineyard in the Omaka Valley, this Marlborough Reserve wine spends an extra 6 months in puncheons after its initial 11 months barrel fermentation. Pale straw yellow in the glass, and with intense aromas of brioche, toasted hazelnut, grapefruit, coconut and preserved lemon. Medium bodied with an energetic acid tension, but loaded with sweet fruit flavours that fan out across the palate. Ripe, pure and concentrated, with golden peach, oatmeal, melon and quince marmalade spread on a buttery, spiced croissant. The oak isn’t overt, balanced and enriching, and the texture that envelops the back of the palate, with pillowy richness like a crème brulee is plush and viscous. The finish brings the wine together nicely. 93pts.
