A new rendition of rosé from Jannine at Urlar – their first – made from their BioGro-certified Pinot Noir with an element of carbonic maceration in the mix. And it’s a gorgeous zingy pink and punchy little number. Dry, with bright aromatics of red fruits – cranberry and cherry blossom, but also a herbal greenery of crushed bayleaf and and nettle. Ripe, a dash of honeyed sweetness, but uncloying. On the palate, a bright pop of redcurrant, strawberry and rosehip, then nuances, again, of tomato stalk, jalapeno and tarragon. A bouncy acidity cuts a swathe through what are generous layers of complexity for what’s usually considered a straightforward type of wine (a rosé). Nice long finish. 93pts. My kind of rosé.
