Bright translucent ruby red in the glass – infused with aromas of thyme, cassis, smoked meat, caramel, rosehip and violets. Plenty to discover on the palate – fresh, vibrant with great depth and full-bodied. Black doris plum, Christmas cake, warm hay, dark cherry and some redcurrants too. Silken, chocolatey texture, showing chewy tannins and great structural bones – still a baby really. Oak is fairly evident but frames the palate nicely. Together with a medium acidity and it’s all coming into balance and feels well integrated already. A lengthy, drying, but spicy finish. 93pts. A feel-good wine, this really put a smile on my face – like a balm or a happiness elixir!
