From Marlborough – Wairau and Southern Valleys fruit – and the new range of ‘Uncharted’ wines by Giesen. A bright, pale lemony green in the glass. Seems a touch shy on the nose, but with a good swirl it opens up with lime zest, almond, hay and grapefruit.
Dry, elegant and taut on the palate, but with sweetness of mandarin, nectarine and oat biscuit flavours enlivened by a busy rush of tart acidity. Only the lightest hint of oak, and a baking spice note emerges at the finish, which is succulent and long. 91pts.
