A relatively rare variety in New Zealand, but this Nelson wine won a Trophy at the NZIWS in 2020 (in the Other White Wine varieties class)
A fresh, striking, very pale peachy gold in the glass; with effusive aromas of nashi pear, citrus, nutmeg and jasmine. The palate is quite weighty, with ripe fruit and in an off-dry style. Intense but lively. Peach, Quince, marmalade, oat biscuit and fig flavours. Rounded and textural with low acidity balancing the sweetness for a silky, luxuriant mouthfeel. A decently long finish, with spice and honey coming through. 92pts. A great alternative, and very adaptable wine. Thinking of Pinot Gris (a relative) or a viognier – try this.
