One of the first 2020 vintage bottled wines to cross my paths for tasting. This is very promising! Open and accessible – invitingly appealing to drink, and easy to understand, bright, fresh flavours here.
Classic Marlborough Sav aromas of elderflower, lemongrass, cut grass and fresh herbs. A zesty acidity to go with the pungent nose – fresh, young and lively, positively bursting from the glass.
Pink grapefruit, greengage, with rockmelon, pineapple and passion fruit on the palate. So sweet-fruited, but the shiver of minerality helps makes this mouth-watering. Some weight and a light funkiness amongst the lush texture here, as it heads to a bright, juicy finish. Nothing too complex or complicated here, but also not just a basic lolly water either. Really smart wine.
90pts, a fabulous example of our New Zealand ‘signature wine’.
