Te Whau ‘The Point’ 2012

From the challenging 2012 vintage which saw a season characterised by relatively poor weather which fortunately was followed by an Indian-summer spell that allowed the red grapes to finish ripening. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Under cork – in excellent condition. Aromatically there is some good lift and complexity with aromas of roses, cedar & dried herbs. The tannins have a chalky profile – perfectly integrated and harmonious with the round acidity. Smooth, matured fruit sits lightly and elegantly on the palate and is showing secondary development. Drinking beautifully now, and expect to hold at this level before moving into more tertiary phase. 94pts
