Appellation Marlborough Wine welcomes new Chief Executive Officer

Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW) has announced the appointment of Stephanie McIntyre as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking an important milestone as the organisation continues to strengthen the integrity, visibility and value of Marlborough wine.

With over 20 years of experience living and working in Marlborough, McIntyre brings a wealth of expertise spanning senior winery marketing roles, international market engagement, media and communications leadership, event creation, and executive positions within wine industry organisations. She is well known across the sector, including through previous work supporting Appellation Marlborough Wine across marketing, communications and stakeholder engagement.

AMW Chair Sophie Parker-Thomson MW said the Committee is thrilled about the appointment and confident in Stephanie’s leadership. “Stephanie brings outstanding strategic marketing credentials, deep industry experience and a genuine connection to Marlborough. Understanding both the opportunity and the responsibility of this role, the Committee has complete confidence in Stephanie’s ability to lead AMW forward.”

McIntyre said the role aligns closely with her professional experience, personal values and admiration for the region. “Marlborough is a truly unique place to grow wine, and like all precious things it needs to be protected. She is looking forward to using her experience across strategy, marketing and stakeholder engagement to strengthen the voice and value of AMW, working closely with members and the Committee to continue building momentum. “Amid an ever-changing industry, with all its challenges and opportunities, AMW and its core promises are more valuable than ever.”

Parker-Thomson said the appointment comes at a critical time for the global wine industry. “At a time of real noise and uncertainty, AMW is the only organisation singularly focused on championing quality and authenticity for Marlborough.
