From Tietjen Witters (TW) on the “golden slope” in Gisborne, this wine is a blend of Viognier and Chardonnay. There’s a very floral nose to this wine – honeysuckle and citrus blossom fragrance along with an invitingly ripe stonefruit lift. On the palate there’s lots of intense fruit flavor coming through – a waft of peach and nectarine, sweet pear and almond tart, but also a creaminess like lemon curd. A velvety texture gives a rounded depth to the wine, despite there not being any sense of oakiness to the core, and a decent sweet, silky finish. A lovely well-rounded summery wine that takes the best of character from each grape, and it just works!
