From the excellent 2013 vintage, this producer on Waiheke Island has a great reputation for their Syrahs. Sealed under screwcap. A deep opaque ruby colour in the glass, with little signs of ageing. Plum aromas with some earthy savoury background notes. There’s a medium-weight mouth feel, enhanced by silky tannins. Fruit is matured and showing more secondary characters of leather, bacon fat and smoke. Acidity is round with medium-length finish. This has definitely evolved since my last tasting of it three years ago. Time to drink up now. 92pts
