A Central Otago Riesling, made in the dry style. Very pale straw colour – this has bright, fresh scents of lime, grapefruit and just a whiff of kerosene. A zesty but elegant palate is zinged full of grapefruit, mandarin and greengage; but weaves in a savoury layer of graphite and sumac. A texture that is lush and rounded, cut with a lacey acidity that gives a tension and vitality to the structure overall.
I’m not always one for the style that’s, for me, too dry – however, this is poised and has a great harmony to the elements at play here. Crisp, yet rounded; and has a minerality to the lingering finish.
