A red blend from Waiheke Island – made of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Malbec and 4% Petit Verdot. Sealed under cork – in excellent condition. Medium ruby with some transparency but little signs of ageing. Red cherry and a touch of cassis, cedar and dried herbs on the nose – fresh and vibrant despite being 15 years of age. Supreme elegance – the elements seamlessly integrated with beguiling complexity. Silky-fine tannins are entwined with a layer of mature, elegant fruit which still has a plush, sweet touch. Acidity is there, but is like a fine bone china cup – you know it’s there, but wonder if it really is. Medium length and have I mentioned the elegance and the moreishness which makes this such pleasurable drinking… that before you know it your glass is empty and you are reaching to the bottle for more. Love this wine – drinking beautifully now, and expect to remain in this state for the next 5 years or so. 97pts
