Pōtiki means ‘last born’ in Maori – the wine named after a selection of the newest plantings in the Martinborough terrace vineyards of this pioneering producer. 2023 was a tricky, damp vintage better suited to white wines. The colour of pale lemon-straw in the glass. A broad, elegant bouquet filled with pear, grapefruit, nectarine, lemon, cashew nut and apple pie. Tighter to taste, with a linear focus wedded to youthful energy. A mouth-filling texture and some warmth of barrel toast widen things out and the finish has great length and harmony. 94pts
