A New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that strays far from the path well-trodden by the majority of Marlborough examples. From a single vineyard in Bendigo, Central Otago, there is a much to recognise from Bordeaux as our more familiar local wines. A very pale golden-green colour. The scent shows blackcurrant, citrus and apple, with more tropical notes of passionfruit, ginger and chamomile. The palate is dry, medium-bodied and has a fine balance between the brisk acidity and a silky, mouth-filling texture that shows straightaway and persists. Broadening as you go, with little elements of liquorice, crushed shell, white pepper and jellybean appearing. The finish is brightly saline, with good persistence. 93pts
