From hand-picked fruit, grown in the Rapaura vineyard surrounding the winery in the Wairau valley, Marlborough. Gewürz means spicy so the grape name literally means ‘spicy traminer’. A light, intense gold colour in the glass. The perfume is exotic and inviting, with lashings of floral notes that start with honeysuckle, rose petal and elderflower. Plenty of juicy fruit too, with clementine, lychee, pineapple, ginger and lemon honey. Rich and textural, the contrast between ripe fruit and brisk acidity gives energy and flow in the palate. A touch of savoury shows with herbal, fennel and toasted spices. The creamy mouthfeel takes over and dives into a finish with plushness and good length. 92pts
