A single vineyard wine from Bendigo in Central Otago, using Gewürztraminer grapes picked late in the harvest. A deep orange-gold colour in the glass. Very aromatic, with an enticing blast of apricot, blood orange, peach, ginger, apple strudel and exotic orchid florals. The cool-climate acidity contrasts with the honeyed sweetness. At 174 g/l residual sugar, the ripeness wins, and although there are zesty flavours of citrus that emerge in the palate – this is a sweet wine – and suited to matching with spiced dishes or, as I like to have, with cold cuts and cheese. The finish is well-balanced and has a purity to it with great persistence. 92pts
