A Méthode Traditionnelle from Esses Estate – the only vineyard in the Kaikoura township, sitting at the base of Mt Fyffe. From the 20-year old vines in their small 1.5ha vineyard they produce a range of top quality sparkling wines that are part of the grower-led society of ‘Méthode Marlborough’. A super bright and zesty perfume, with vibrant bubbles adding to the energetic nature that is both elegant and vivacious. Scented with peach, quince, orange marmalade, red apple, bread dough, cashew nut and baking spices. Quite dry and with a lovely savoury marmite edge to the palate. This could work throughout a dinner, not just as an aperitif. The finish reinforces the liveliness but also a touch of aged, biscuity character too. 92pts
