A single vineyard wine from the Upper Awatere in Marlborough. A vibrant gold colour, with touches of green to the edges. Varietally pure aromas of nectarine, melon, grapefruit and lemon mix with hazelnut, struck-match flintiness and smoky herbs in the perfume. Quite rich and concentrated, with a balance of toasty oak, juicy acidity and pithy fruit tannin providing structure and spine on which the ripe fruit hangs. A silky texture adds roundness and slows the palate down, before a long, seamless finish. 93pts
