Pyramid Valley ‘Field of Fire’ Chardonnay 2023

The 2023 vintage sees all the Botanical Collection wines sealed with a Diam Origine 10 cork closure and a wax seal. A pale green-gold colour in the glass. The nose is all citrus, with freshly picked lemon, grapefruit, mandarin and lime. A touch of smoky reductivity, toasted almond and crushed shell completes an inviting bouquet. A tight, youthful palate begins with a snap of saline acidity, giving direct line and length, and boundless energy from the first sip. A phenolic minerality creeps around the edge as the back palate shows a plush texture and more depth from a note of fine oak. Finishes dry and pithy. 94pts
