A Grenache from 150-year-old vines in the biodynamically-farmed Schlieb’s Garden Vineyard in the Barossa Valley. Quite pale and translucent in the glass – a delicate magenta-garnet colour. The nose is also quite ethereal, although has more juice than a look at the colour suggests. Red cherry, white pepper, pomegranate, strawberry and a gentle toasted spice note. The pop of fruit is enhanced by zesty acidity, and the palate shows a touch of oak spice too. The fruit turns plush and generous as you go, mouth-filling and ripe into a dry finish of great length and persistence. 93pts
