A single vineyard Chardonnay from the Wallops vineyard in Marlborough – the homestead block that was originally planted by Allan and Catherine as contract growers for neighbouring winery, Cloudy Bay in 1985. A pale lemon-green colour in the glass, with citrus and ripe stonefruit on the nose, with a touch of cashew nut and vanilla on top. A rich, ripe style, with plenty of toasty oak, adding depth and body. There’s a creamy, buttery texture balancing the freshness of the citrus, apple and peach fruit flavours. It turns nicely dry on the finish that has good persistence. 90pts
