Served at the excellent Cellar Door which is part of Rimu Wine Bar in the Shed 4 complex on the Mapua Wharf. This has benefitted from a few years in bottle and shows the beginning of secondary characters. A pale gold in the glass, with a bright and effusive aroma leading with a distinct lime and lemon note. Then some lychee, mandarin and green apple, but also a contrasting pair of kerosene and honeysuckle. A bolder turn into the palate, with a plush textural mouthfeel. Enough residual sugar gives a fruity sweetness, balanced with a zesty acidity. There is dark as well as light to the style – with density and volume at the finish. 93pts
