One of a couple of Pinot Noirs from this producer in the Tasman region. Opaque garnet red in the glass. On the perfume there are some funky tones on first opening, but this dies away rapidly and there is a light, fleshy crunch to the primary fruit with redcurrant, raspberry, cherry fruits. These are overlaid with smoky spices and a lilac floral top note. Bright and with an un-polished rusticity and a pulse of fresh energy running through the palate. The tannins are rounded and fine, and acidity carries things along, but it is mostly about fruit, and the finish reflects this, with a glossy, dryness of reasonable persistence. 89pts
