Made from 20-year old vines in the Apple Valley vineyard just south-west Mapua in the Tasman region. A medium golden-straw colour in the glass, with just touches of green at the edges. Hugely aromatic, with lime cordial, apple, lemon peel, honeycomb and orange blossom florals on the nose. Off-dry, with enough residual sugar to give a very juicy entry to the plate, bolstered by a zing of zesty acidity. Cool, calm and collected, with fine fruit tannin and a chalky minerality throughout. Drier as you go, with a delicate balance and plenty of personality. Works on its own, as an aperitif wine perhaps, or a lovely food match to richer food for dinner. 92pts
