The top tier of Chardonnay from this producer whose star is certainly rising in recent years. A mix of clones (Clone 15 – 63%, Mendoza – 35% and Clone 95 – 2%) from the stony, sandy soils of the Askerne lower terrace. A bright lemon-gold colour in the glass. The bouquet is complex and upfront – leading with a flinty smokiness, with grapefruit, lemon curd, peach, apple, cashew nut, oatmeal and orange blossom following underneath. Quite rich and full-bodied, with plenty of fruit ripeness and weight through the palate. Acidity is tight and pithy, aiding length and line towards a long and creamy finish. 93pts
