This Pinot Noir from Marlborough in a ‘tricky vintage’ is a blend of five vineyards from which they source grapes. A light, bright garnet-ruby colour in the glass. Notes of cherry, cranberry, redcurrant, blueberry, toasted spice and lilac florals mingle in the perfume. A youthful expression, perhaps a little disjointed just now, but showing a nice grip of tannin across the palate. Crisp acidity and lots of crushed-shell minerality set off the crunch of fruit well. There’s a nice flow into a finish that has spice and persistence. 91pts
