Siren ‘High Priestess’ Pinot Noir 2022

Siren ‘High Priestess’ Pinot Noir 2022

A Marlborough Pinot Noir – using fruit from the biodynamic Wrekin Vineyard at the top of the Brancott Valley. Sealed under cork. A pale garnet-ruby red in the glass, and quite opaque. The perfume has good varietal typicity, with cherry, blueberry and cranberry fruit. The tang of fruit is matched by savoury cassia bark, white pepper, nori and liquorice notes. Bright with acidity and continuing that pop of fruit into the palate. Fairly light in tone, and with plenty of juice on offer, there is a more defined tannin that lies in the sidelines and has some rasp across the tongue, adding complexity. Drink young appeal – I see no need to think about cellaring this. 89pts
