A white wine using Sauvignon Blanc grapes from a vineyard in the Wairau Valley, Marlborough. A very pale green-gold colour in the glass. The nose starts quite funky, with a pungent smokiness over a savoury and complex set of aromas. Grapefruit, apple, preserved lemon, macadamia nut, marmite, blackcurrant and soy mingle and jostle for attention. A viscosity to the mouthfeel balances well with a spine of zesty acidity, softening the tartness and adding length. The finish is dry and shows solid persistence. 92pts
